Wow. Well it's been a little over two years since my last entry. I stopped by diaryland on a lark just to see if my account was still active (and it was, apparently).
Upon reading my previous entry, I'm quite fascinated by how much has changed (and hasn't changed) in the time since. I have moved nearly 1000 miles and am just about to start my third year of grad school.
After the first year which had it's good moments, but seemed filled with a lot of frustration, mainly due to finances, I was able to start my second year afresh and in a much calmer, happier state due to getting an assistantship. This did result in my decision to stay in the program for a third year rather than graduate in two as originally planned. Now I'll have more time to write some of the things I've had on the back burner (including the mathematically themed piano pieces that I never got around to). Moreover, the assistantship has given me a great opportunity to be a TA and gain a lot of experience teaching in a college setting.
And what will I do a year from now? Probably move somewhere, though I'd like to stay on the east coast. This may only be for a short time as I'd like to pursue a doctorate, but I really can't bear the thought of preparing applications this fall. I'll wait until next year, when I have more materials ready and am not so busy with both school and work.
Perhaps I'll be back to diaryland in a year or so.
